Quinta da Manoella, whose history dates back to 1838, was acquired in 2009 by the Wine&Soul company owned by Jorge Serôdio Borges and his wife Sandra Tavares da Silva, two of Portugal's most renowned winemakers, who wanted to channel their vast experience into a winery that would showcase the Douro's traditional grape varieties on an international scale.
Wine&Soul wines represent the spirit of a new wave of Douro wines, of high quality and strong personality, from single plots of very old vines, with low yields and limited production, highlighting the character of each vineyard and the particular nature of each unique terroir. The wines are created with a minimalist oenological intervention, allowing the terroir and nature to express themselves fully.
Over the years, the family has grown and today not only produces Douro wines, but also maintains the tradition of producing Port wines and olive oil, which comes from the olive groves surrounding the vineyards.
